This is pretty cool.  The description from the site where I found it below:

This cover of “Stand By Me” was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. That track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley’s base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz’s added some metal percussion to it.

And from there, it just gets rock ‘n’ rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

Passion

largecokenoice:

And lastly, if you’re anything like me you’ve probably always wondered what it would sound like for a grade school chorus to sing one of your favorite Bjork songs? Well here you go (and if I had a music teacher that cool I probably never would have dropped out of 5th Grade).

Look at the faces or even the motions these kids make as they sing this song.

It’s hard to remember, but there was a time in your life where you didn’t worry about looking stupid.  You could possibly make the case that these kids don’t quite understand fully what they are singing, but they have a sense of what it’s all about, they can feel it and they show it.  No one in that class will point at the kid who has his eyes closed while singing or laugh at the girl with her hand clenching her chest, and that is pretty awesome.

Much simpler times my friends.
Much simpler times.

It’s sad, because my favorite new comedian Anthony Jeselnik writes for this show, but Jimmy Fallon fails… hard.

If there was a reason why I am fat, The Slayer is why.  I live just south of Kuma’s and let me tell you: this place does not fuck around.

This video was posted by my friend Tom on Twitter and I sat and watched it thinking it was so cool but I was also extremely confused.

Eric and I sat and watched it and when it came up to the helicopter part we both thought the artist was using toys.  Only after reading the full description did we realize that he actually got a rescue helicopter crew to fiulm with him and it was just a really cool technique.

The only thing left to say is: How fucking cool is that?!?

When one of my favorite artists covers another one of my favorites, I feel all warm inside.

I like it when people do covers, do the song justice, but also make it their own.  The Avett Brothers have their own vibe so whatever they choose to do will basically have their swagger on it.

Long live The Boss.
